S Max 2012 - Misted rear light clusters.

Featured Replies

Howdy,

with the recent temp drops I’ve found all 4 rear lamp units on our newly acquired S Max have some form of damp inside. 3 are just misty, one has more significant condensation than the others. Pics attached as best I could take em!

I'm tempted to remove them, pull a couple of rubber plugs/bulb holders off, then hang them over the boiler for a couple of days, see if they dry out.

Any experience with this and suggestions/solutions?

Cheers

It's a known 'Feature' it's not a fault or a problem, Ford specially designed them to do that !!!

In some handbooks it even mentions this feature and says it will dry out once the temperatures get warmer. The Ford Edge apparently has this happen a lot. If, as someone said, you get enough water inside for a couple of Goldfish then it's probably time to do something about it.

One of my lights is at the “unacceptable moisture level” according to that owners manual excerpt. As it has reached the water droplets/streaking stage.

May try drying them out, see how quickly it reoffends. Moisture build up is probably/possibly gradual.
