Featured Replies

I have a 8 month old focus active x and experiencing problems with remote start, interior lights not operating when opening doors and other issues, ford tell me it’s because the car isn’t used often enough, never had this on any ford before,it’s going into dealers next week, any ideas please

Sounds like low battery, how often and far do you use the car? Ford could well be correct.

Looks like your previous car was a 2013 Fiesta (your profile is out of date). Things have moved on a bit, and not always for the better. You're going to have to get used to charging the battery about every 5 weeks during the winter time as the car's "Smart" charging system is not going to stand a chance of keeping the battery charge level at 80% (Factory set max charge level).

Yes, I found this quickly became routine with my previous (2018) Fiesta. The current one displayed the "Systems off to save battery" etc warning after a few months so back to the charger. My usage is also pretty irregular, so I guess it's no surprise with modern systems.

Your dealer may say "use it more", or "give it a good run to the coast" etc. However, apart from being bad for the polar bears, more driving doesn't always help if your pattern of use doesn't suit the systems parameters. For example, I've done 300+ miles in a day and still seen the message next morning.

If you need battery charger recommendations, we are happy to oblige.......😀

Coincidentally had mine on charge today - not been used a lot in the last few weeks.

Took 8 hours to go through the full sequence on my CTEK MXS 5** but I need to use it tomorrow morning so it should start even though minus temperatures are promised!😀

**Other brands are available of course but he's not been along yet!😀

Update: It did - first touch of the button!😀
