Ford gold protect extended warranty

Featured Replies

Any comment or advice regarding the Ford Protect Gold extended warranty?

my ford is coming up to three years and I have just been offered the above warranty for £144/year.

is this worth a go or is it a waste of money?

If the engine explodes next year, it was money well spent.  If not, it was money wasted.

Seriously though, I doubt you could get anything fixed at a Ford dealer for £144.  So if anything at all needs repair, as long as it's not a wear & tear item, it probably is worth it.

I went for 3 more years.

Already made a claim for the 3rd brake light to be replaced, so it's probably at least half paid for itself, if not more.

Well recommended, paid £174 in March 2023 on my 2020 ST-Line and had a claim for £714.98 for a driver's side seat base as it was moving left and right. I do wonder how much renewal will be this coming March.

They told me you can only renew 12mths at a time

Also includes AA homestart and roadside breakdown cover, and MOT test insurance.

You can pay per month with no interest

I was told the same, 1 year at a time.

My dealer offered me 1, 2 or 3 years.

What was the renewal Arathorn?

@Rich650 Renewal was £183.60, so I renewed again. Sorry been a while since you asked.

Already several threads on this topic, so I thought I'd just tag on here, rather than start another!

Normally at this stage of ownership I start considering the "stick or twist" question, but as there's nothing of interest these days it looks like "stick"!

Recently received an offer on this of 12 months cover for £156, which I'm inclined to go for - unless anyone has had a nasty experience since last post?

NB: I spotted in earlier threads/posts that some people were told (or got the impression) that "MoT cover" includes the test fee. It certainly doesn't now:

MOT Test Warranty general exclusions

The cost of the following:

  1. the cost of the MOT test and retest

  2. accident or structural damage, rust or corrosion

  3. windscreen

  4. exhaust system and catalytic converter

  5. engine tuning or adjustment

  6. wheel alignment

  7. brake friction material where the condition relates to wear and tear

  8. general wear and tear items

Another thing I noticed was that the quote I received was based on a "voluntary" excess of £100. Like insurance, you could vary this via a dropdown, so I reset it to £0, expecting to see the price rise. But no, it stayed the same, so I could have inadvertently accepted an excess for no benefit.

i have just been looking into this but on the ford uk website, it is asking for around a £1000 for a year, how did you all get it around £150 for a year?

They contacted me (from the address Mark mentions above) with a quote as my new car warranty expires shortly.

You're unlikely to get the same sort of quote on an older car, as you would on a 3 year old just coming out of original warranty.

I tried that too, wondering why mine is alot more

Like any insurance, risk, location etc. Mine jumped from £180 last year to £346 this year. Overall don't think thats bad when they cover engine and gearbox.

If you're looking for a quote for the 10 year old Focus on your profile, that'll be the reason.

As an experiment, just tried it with the reg of my old 18 plate car and got a quote of over £750.

many thanks guys

was just planning ahead with my mot.
