2010 ST/XR5 steering/immobilizer reset ?

Featured Replies

Looking for some guidance.

Wife driving vehicle and the red light above the 'I' on the cluster was flashing and she noted a very high pitched beep (hard to hear hooning with the windows down and stereo up!).

2 days later car wont start.............. No electrics at all, no lights or display

Put battery on charge overnight, checked terminals, the digital orange cluster display flashed a few times but went back to dead before I could get a door open !

So it is either the immobilizer or the dreaded cluster issue, is there any method to work out which it is ?

TIA

Is the battery showing good voltage?

Immobiliser issue only prevents starting, should still get dash lights, radio, etc.  Even with a totally dead cluster I'd still expect some electronics to be working.

Thanks Tom,

Battery has good voltage and I disconnected, cleaned and reconnected the terminals.

In the manual is says the red light is related to immobilizer/steering malfunction and 'you will only be able to re start your vehicle up to 5 times or for a period of 56 hours after which the vehicle cannot be started' so I also figured it'd have power elsewhere, am assuming then it must be the cluster issue

No issue or gremlins with the vehicle other than the flashing light prior to finding it literally dead, no lights upon opening the door, no ignition, no power what so ever apart from a brief flash of the orange digital display on the cluster briefly when reconnecting the battery.

We live 250m from our Ford dealer, was just hoping to get some sort of idea rather than pushing it down there to be told 'they all do that/we will have to investigate' (aka No Idea) and handing them a blank cheque  !

Cheers

Ok, put a new battery into the XR5 and it started fine !

Am yet to find an issue or what caused the drain in the first place......
