My 2022 Focus St Line Vignale auto battery needs charging, I think because there are so many electrical components and it's an auto, and it only does small journeys. Does anybody have any tips for charging and how to keep the battery topped up?

    There are plenty of threads on this topic on the forum but the basic principle is to connect your charger to the battery positive terminal and the vehicle chassis - not to the negative terminal. The reason for this is that the vehicle has a Battery Monitoring System (BMS) that keeps track of the current into and out of the battery. The sensor is mounted on the negative terminal so if the charger is connected to that terminal it will bypass the BMS. Connecting the charger to the chassis ensures that your charger current goes through the BMS and is registered.

    Very popular battery charger is the "Maypole" smart charger. Mostly you will need to charge the battery every 5 weeks during winter for about 12 hours.
