ecoboost fiesta 2016

Featured Replies

A friend was selling 16 ecoboost 61k good condition for 3700, I couldnt turn it down.

Going to put  a new year mot on it and decide whether to sell or keep it.

I currently have a 58 corsa 1.2 which is very reliable. Worth 1200-1500.

I noticed the ecoboost gearing a bit long, kept noticing it labouring and having to change down a gear. Its a 5 speed.

However its rather rapid when you want it to be. I'm not sure the mpg will be any better than the corsa 45-50 mpg but it has free tax.

I wasnt really  looking for a new car and was happy with the corsa. alAny ideas what the ecoboost would be worth, only has 2 owners and vgc.

just an update. have done 150 miles in the ecoboost. actual mpg 47.5. most of this driving was motorway. not impressed. confirms my suspicions that these small turbo engines are no better on fuel than a simple n/a engine. i suspected this when driving a corsa 1.2 courtesy car which appeared to drink fuel. my standard 58 plate 1.2 corsa does 45-50mpg guaranteed and has no turbo. only difference is performance, which i dont care about anymore. any one else think these engines arent so great?

My last three cars have been Fiesta Ecoboosts.

The 2018 140PS STL-X MK8 Fiesta averaged 55MPG, the 2022 125PS Mhev STL-Vignale MK8.5 Fiesta averaged 60MPG , and just changed to a 2023 200PS ST-3 Fiesta which so far is returning 45MPG...so in my experience I would say not bad consumption for a petrol engine.

Ecoboost fuel consumption is heavily dependent on how they are driven and where they are driven...I think the general thought is you can't have Eco and Boost at the same time, although I generally try to get somewhere between the two.

depends on how they are driven. if you spend the whole time smashing the gas and brake peddles then expect poor mpg I struggle to get less than 50mpg @70mph drop speed down to 50mph cruising lane 1 and have achieved 78mpg. I just did a 125mile A road trip and achieved 63mpg.

Over 5 years my Mk 8 140 consistently returned figures in the 45-53 range, so 47.5 is par for the course for a 5 speed used predominantly on the M-way. As Martin says, consumption is heavily influenced by driving technique and you may find it improves when you get more accustomed to it. Some members on here regularly achieve 50-60mpg. Mpc (miles per cambelt) might be a different matter but plenty of threads on that!😀

Comparing it with a 1.2 n/a Corsa  is "apples and pears" - Ford introduced the 1.0 ecoboost as a replacement for an n/a 1.6.

Coincidentally my ST-3 is returning similar figures to Martin and has managed just shy of 50mpg on a decent run.

although Eco Boom and Bust is quite common 🤣

Driven it a bit more, the gearing is so long, 2nd goes above 60, 3rd gear goes to 100!

The trouble is it feels like you need to stay in a lower gear than it advises.

Like at 70 it feels better to me in 4th but the display says I should change up.

Most of us just ignore that and drive according to our experience and the rev counter.

I've not owned a 5 speed ecoboost but in my previous 6 speed 140 I used to find little/no difference in mpg when using 5th on most roads. I would use 6th to cruise at a steady 70 on a level M-way, though.

I generally found the 1.0 happiest kept at 2,000rpm or above.

Quite suprised my 2022 125 Automatic averaged 62mpg on a 400 miles motorway round trip with ECO selected and in cruise control at 60mph. Every day mtoring averaging around 48mpg. Engine is still a bit tight at 2118 miles I would think so maybe a bit more to come.
