Replacement Turbo on 13 plate TDCI . is it worth it?

Featured Replies

Hello

Can anyone advise me please. I have a Focus TDCI,  120,000 mile on the clock. Spent  £500 in the last year on a new timing belt and only last week £160 on a new stop start battery. However now it looks like my Turbo needs replacing. The car is struggling on the motorway and making a wooing sound on exceleration. Its booked into a garage next week but think i know whats coming. Will it be worth getting it fixed given that its got 120,000 on the clock and its age. I guess the repair will be over a grand.... :-((  thank you

Well if that was in North America, they would consider the engine only just run-in. They typically get 250,000 miles but of course have nice long straight well maintained highways.

In my opinion yes it would be worth getting it repaired. What's the alternative ? If you sell it for scrap then you won't get much, and your then looking at spending £16K plus just to buy something a little newer and it will come with it's own problems, that's for sure.
