Odd Noise

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 2010 1.4 Fiesta and when started from very cold there is an odd clacking noise coming from the drivers side of the engine.  It's been into the garage twice and the best answer they could come up with was to recharge the air con. (Which didn't solve it) After engine warms up (noise goes away) also not there during summer. It's had cam belt changed any got any ideas? I do have a video, but no idea how to post...... Cheers

This may be the well known clacking noise that duratec engines make while they are cold. The reason is that on cold starts the pistons rattle inside the block, then as the engine gets hotter they expand and the noise goes away. If this is the case then it's not a problem, it's how the engine was designed.
