Radio not working just static

Radio been working then last week all stations are just static now  ive checked the aerial connections  does this seem right ?

The connection from what can be seen looks fine, no signs of corrosion. In addition, if the radio went from working to crackle 'overnight', unlikely to be a corrosion issue. It almost sounds as if the aerial connector has been dislodged from the back of your radio, again, an unlikely scenario.

Your radio is now 21 years old, likely something internal has just gone faulty.

If it were mine, I'd start by pulling the radio out and checking all the connections at the back of the radio. A replacement set won't be prohibitive as plenty listed on Ebay. An advantage of owning a 'classic' car.

yes got a spare single din radio to test out and the spare one is fine so must be original radio will be looking for a replacement soon
