Cannot pair phone with Sony MP3 radio

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

I recently changed the radio in my Focus to a Sony MP3 unit (image attached to show type). I'm struggling to connect my mobile phone with Bluetooth.

On the radio, press Phone, then Menu, confirm Bluetooth is on.
Mobile phone shows a "Pairing Request" notification for "Ford Audio".
Tap in code "0000".
Phone shows "incorrect code entered for Ford Audio".

I've checked and there are no phones in the Debond list - the list shows "Empty".

The manual says that when you pair for the first time, the code is "0000". Type this in and then a new unique code should appear on the radio display - that new code needs to be entered on the mobile to complete pairing.

I don't get that far - the radio doesn't show any Bluetooth PIN, I type "0000" on the mobile and then it errors out.

If I leave Bluetooth on it "pings" the mobile phone very few seconds with a pairing request.

Where am I going wrong?

Cheers

Make sure there are no stored phones in the radio, if there are delete them all.

Search for the phone with the radio, don't search for the radio with the phone.

Should pair OK then

If not, you could have the wrong bluetooth module for the radio
