Headlights shacking

Featured Replies

hi guys my headlights shake they vibrate on bumpy roads or on bumps and when I put the car in p

I have a 2019 fiesta with 2020 LED headlights fitted after how did you solve it? There is a solution? headlights that are a month old

Who fitted the headlights?

Possibly broken mounts - been reported quite often on here, particularly when changing bulbs, eg:

I think there is an official Ford fix but aftermarket repair kits are also available e.g.

The headlight supports are intact, they are new, the headlights are one month old

Garage Ford

So the headlamps themselves are not moving/physically loose?

Did the garage fit full new LED headlamps including self-levelling which I believe is necessary?

I would suggest going back to them with your issue.

these do not have self leveling they have manual leveling

However they shake on rough roads or potholes or depressions and at neutral they vibrate slightly with the engine... now I will replace  2 engine supports, the gearbox support and the battery side support

Did the headlights shake before the LEDs were fitted? Or only afterwards?

If the headlights are secure I wonder if it's just that the LED lights have a much sharper beam pattern and any movement will be more noticeable.

I don't understand...

And did this problem start before or after you started changing headlamps?

I've only experienced this sort of issue with lamps that were loose, incorrectly fitted or had broken brackets so unable to comment further, I'm afraid.

Well, that does suggest a problem with the replacement lamps and/or the fitting. If it was done by a Ford garage, I can only suggest again that you raise it with them.

If your original lights worked correctly before you started swapping headlamps, it would seem the problem is the lights not the car.

May I assume the original car had halogen head lights and the issue therefore is the led ones are not directly compatible with the car. If so it may be wiring differences or configuration in the lighting module .

I'm assuming likewise, and if the headlamps were originally operating correctly, the issue must lie with whatever has been changed. It's not clear whether we are talking about a full led headlight swap (very expensive) or just a swap to LED bulbs but in either case there seems to be plenty of opportunity to get things wrong when removing and replacing the lamp units.

we are talking about a completely LED replacement in Italy €700 ... now a friend has also fitted them and he has no problems with shaking... he too originally had halogens... I don't understand where I went wrong... I I also mounted some resistors... to ensure that the light is like the original one... and doesn't drop in intensity, before  they dropped in intensity... with a 50w resistor I solved this but not the shaking... the shaking disappears as soon as I accelerate...and if I walk a lot it even disappears...that's why I thought about the engine supports...help me I'm going crazy...is it possible there isn't a solution to this? and I can enjoy my headlights...in peace...

I found another video on YouTube: "Avoid These Mistakes When Removing a MK8 Ford Fiesta Headlamp" which might be of some help.

Couldn't embed the link for some reason but you may be able to find it.

It is a puzzle but I don't see there's anything else we can add from here.

If the headlamps worked ok before the change, then I can't see why the engine mounts would be involved - unless something else has happened to the car?

If as you said at the beginning you paid the Ford garage 700 Euros to fit the lamps then surely you should raise it with them.

Ford says it's normal...Ford doesn't care...

changing the engine support the shaking decreased but never disappeared but the thing that worries me is that the headlights shake even on apparently smooth roads I caught a Fiesta with the same headlights yesterday for him the lights didn't show the slightest flickering while for me they were shaking and we were on the same road so I think the headlights should behave the same way...thanks to the people who cared about me

Pretty much the same as over here, then.😞

A couple of last thoughts.

Do the lamps shake when the car is running but stationary and the bonnet open? If not, is the closed bonnet making contact with the headlights - this has been reported.

Only other thing I can think of is to remove the LEDs and replace the standard lamps. If no shaking, it at least proves it is the lamps or fitting and not the car at fault.

with the bonnet open the vibration increases when closing it decreases you'll go crazy!! because if I drive for many 100/200 km the vibration is almost invisible... but if I drive in low gears it's a Caribbean dance...

guys I took the car to a very good mechanic who tested it for 2 days and said it's a structural problem... the car is fine... it doesn't even have any problems with the supports, the clutch is just a little hard but nothing serious... regarding the headlights he said he has already tested several fiestas and they all do the same thing... he tightened the headlight screws a bit but the vibration still remained... he didn't get a single euro and above all it was the first time I went there so he could make some easy money... I give up guys I think it could be the headlights... 6 headlights and they all do the same thing yes but they will be of a poorly made... production. ..or done on the cheap...I give up because going to the Ford garage and waiting 6 months for a headlight just doesn't suit me after waiting 5 months...I'm sorry but after this car I won't buy a Ford anymore.. .too much savings and on the part of the parent company there is no attention towards the customer, not even paying for it...despite everything Thank you all for the comments and for trying to help me.
