Instrument Panel Issue

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, I have this issue that I can't figure out whether it's normal or not. When I insert the key and turn it to the second position, the glow plug indicator light and another  red light come on (red arrow) for about 15 seconds, after which the dashboard lights up normally, and the car runs without any issues. If I try to start the engine before these lights go off, the car starts, but the dashboard doesn't light up, and it sorts itself out after the usual 15 seconds. I'm attaching photo of the issue. I have alredy check all fuse.

Your cluster is commonly affected by cracked solder joints on the wiring connector socket. It could be a symptom of that, I'm not certain, I've not come across this specific symptom being associated with the cracks before and I'm not familiar enough with diesels to know what behaviour is correct, although it seems like a fault for functionality to be held up for several seconds like that.

I did a very quick bit of research and found other people having encountered this same behaviour, but nothing particularly useful in terms of confirming the cause.

I suggest that you take out the cluster and get the solder joints fixed, they'll no doubt be cracked and even if it turns out not to be the cause, the cracks will cause other problems sooner or later anyway.

Hi guys, I wanted to let you know that I solved the problem by changing the ignition switch.
