Remove Bluetooth device from 2011 Focus

Featured Replies

Evening all,

Tried to pair my new phone with my Ford Focus Zetec 2011 1.8.

Says I need to delete devices from the radio.
I pressed phone > Menu > found previous owners iPhones listed but I cannot work how to delete it.

The DAB/Radio/USB/CD player is (as far as I can tell) Sony CD DAB

Thanks in advance

Sorted.
Who thought using the word Debond was a good idea ?

yep debond naming is mental (never seen or heard anyone else in the world use it)

is this a Mk 2 car - if so are you running the last ever software - in many ways you don't want it - but to get security updates and lots bug fixes, you kind of always need them

hard to come by these days for the old cars but LOTS of changes came in 2012 to suit where they reverse how the car and BT talk to each other - the world moved the standard to allow spying when shopping - so rather than telling the car to look for your phone and connect up - all BT devices running the current standard are permanently communicating with each other (to enable them to track you round the shops and update adverts, offers and junk based on the type of shop you are going in to)...

old mk2 how to (whilst pic is a fiesta its the same module you are updating)

  • Compatibility. My phone (Sony Experia Z5) wouldn’t connect reliably and take calls properly in my 2011 Mondeo. The update fixed that. The same for the Fiesta (a 2009 model) which wouldn’t connect properly to any smartphone.
  • iPod Useability. The original firmware required use of a special Y-cable, which connected to both the USB port (for control and track name display) and the 3.5mm Aux in socket (for analogue audio). The new version allows use of standard Apple 30pin-USB cables, with the car stereo doing the audio decoding from the digital stream.
  • USB Playback. Allows use of MP3s saved on a USB stick. I don’t know if or how well this worked earlier, I never tried until after updating.
  • Bluetooth Audio Streaming. The update adds compatibility for Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) or Streaming Music in English. This can also be used for Sat Nav directions through the speakers when using Google Maps on an Android device
