Alarm going off

Featured Replies

2010 fiesta zetec s

Hi everyone, got an issue where the alarm on my fiesta will randomly sound. It normally happens about 10-15 minutes after I have parked it but it can also happen after that timeframe too. Doesn’t happen every time I park but is happening a few times a week.

Not sure if it is related too but when I am driving it, I will occasionally get a message on the small dashboard screen saying “bonnet open”. It will only flash up for a second or two and then go. Bonnet is obviously closed and can’t see any corrosion around the latch under the bonnet which might cause an issue.

Thanks in advance for any help and advice

It's the bonnet switch (it's only a micro switch on the latch), what most people do me included is just unplug it and put a piece of wire bridging the pins inside the plug then wrapping it in electrical tape to prevent water ingress

Thanks mate.

Doing that will still allow me to lock the car and set the alarm won’t it though? And it won’t have any warning lights on the dash as it’s been bridged I’m guessing?

Yep, everything will work, what bridging the connector does is tricking the cr into thinking the bonnet is always shut (the bonnet switch purely bridges the two pins of the connector when the bonnet is shut) if you look at similar threads on here that is always the solution that is settled on.
