(P) button on dash Mk4.5

Featured Replies

I have a MY23 Mk4.5 and was wondering the point of this button is as it only navigates to the nearest carpark. Surely a dedicated button is a bit OTT.

I thought it might be parking assist but I don't have the rear camera.

STLine Vignale

Cheers

It's the one next to the engine start.

Thought the car might have active park assist as I heard the camera wasn't needed which might have been false info.

The button in your photo is indeed the "Parking Aid" button. As far as i know the self park system actually uses sensors/radar for positioning the vehicle and so no need for the camera. It would seem very odd that the ST Line vignale would be without both the camera and the Self Park.

Active park assist does require the camera to select the space you want to park in.

I'm guessing you must have rear park pilot at the very least though?  If so, that can probably be disabled by pressing the P button when it's activated.

Yeah, I have front/rear park pilot.

I'll check in Forscan incase I disabled something when tinkering.

You need the extra sensors on the side for Park Pilot, i.e. 12 in total as far as I know. That's how it finds suitable spaces. The button for it has a Steering Wheel logo on it as well as a P on my earlier car.

Thanks, I'll have a look.

The Mk4.5 only has the one button pictured above with the options appearing on the screen.
