Anyone else having a problem with sync 4 not showing caller ID on incoming phone calls, only the number shows but after ending the call the contact names are visible in the recent calls list, I have tried pairing a different phone but just the same, TIA

It's not a problem that has been mentioned before by other Sync 4 users. I'd suspect a corrupt software install.

At least the car is under warranty. Your helpful local Ford dealer will be happy to assist and  will have the issue resolved in just a few moments.  🤣🤣🤣🤣 I really did try not to laugh but it was just too much.

Already tried the dealer and they had never seen the problem before, thought it might be my phone but I tried pairing other phones and there all the same, no caller ID.

I also have this problem, ford tried resetting the sync 4 and bluetooth with no fix.

Iphone strangely works but android does not, only every now again does it work.

Contacts are in the sync 4 aswell as contact information on out going calls from my list, but not incoming calls, android auto works perfect just not ford's control over phone sync. Nor does it work when you ask it to send a message as it says contact list needs downloading even though it's on there.

 

Ford have ordered a telematrix or something like that but still waiting on part

I too have had this problem. 

Ive had 2 of the same vehicles 24year models with both with this issue. Dealer does not know of a fix to this problem and as above android phones with issues. Weird that 1 or 2 contacts does work but 99 percent only shows number and not contact information.  But if you use sync to dial out the contact information works perfectly, just incoming is the problem

I expect it will work when your car from the future reaches 2025 🤔

I bought a 2024 new style Puma in Dec. I am also having problem with the caller ID not showing on incoming calls on sync 4. It has been updated, installed, reinstalled endlessly.  Outgoing calls and text messages correctly display the right names, but incoming calls only display the numbers. Strangely it works fine when android auto is connected, but i don't want to reply on this and don't often have my data switched on my mobile (small data package) Ford technicians are at  a loss. The salesmen who normally pair and connect the phone to cars cant get it to work.

Has anybody had any success in resolving this?

I was hoping that an over the air update would solve this but never had an update in 27 Months from getting the car 🤔

Best to wait until the warranty expires before getting anything  done. Then you can spend lots of money to get it fixed 🤔

I have a similar problem. Incoming calls only showed the phone number and not the contact name. I found that not all of my contacts had been loaded into the Sync 4 contacts list of my 2024 Kuga. Eventually I discovered the problem. A lot of my contacts had multiple numbers. E,g. mobile number, home landline number, work number etc.  I had to remove the additional numbers so that each contact only had one number stored. This cured the problem but I'm amazed I had to do that.

My previous car was a 2018 Kuga with Sync 3 and multiple number were not a problem.

I have seen somewhere, can't remember where, that if the description of the additional phone number contains a space then Sync4 does not like it. So contact phone descriptions like "mobile", "home" and "work" are ok but "work mobile" "home landline" and similar would not be acceptable to Sync4. I don't have a vehicle with Sync4 to test this myself.

I'd posted my initial issues and analysis on "SYNC4 and Motorola phones - Contact Mismatch".

A Samsung phone was ok, three Motorola's weren't.

I'm about to perform a Master reset as I still have a couple of issues - No indication of incoming texts & no caller-Id on incoming calls. My contacts are usually stored as +44<blah>, but the incoming call is noted as 0<blah>. All my contacts are in Google (none on the SIM) - but there will be 'linked contacts' from apps like Whatsapp & Meet on my 'active' phone

Alas, I was too quick to assume my problem was sorted. My contacts in Sync 4 do not show up with caller ID on incoming calls. Plus I've discovered a further problem. A few of my contacts have their address saved in the contract info. If I click on one of these addresses the sync 4 satnav loads up but just sits there forever without loading the chosen address. It seems the sync 4 is full of issues. I never had any of these problems with my previous Kuga which has Sync 3.

All my contacts are in Google on my Samsung phone and none on the SIM or phone.

I don't want to use Android Auto as too much data is used.
