Unusual Data in BCM Central Config (Focus MK3 2012)

Featured Replies

Hello all - I've noticed that in my central config (In either main BCM or IPC backup) 'Fuel Tank Volume' is set to 'PHEV 62L'

Car is a 2012 Focus MK3 2.0 TDCi (163), According to the manual and general research it is most certainly a 60L tank, and is definitely not a plug in hybrid...

I had assumed that at some point in its life something has been changed or messed with in the module to cause this config / setting

I have restored the BCM & IPC config to AsBuilt from motorcraft with but indeed the AsBuilt data contains this value as the default.

Is there any potential reason or gain for me to change it to '60 Litres' as is correct - or is there perhaps a reason that the default value is 'PHEV 62l'?

Hoping to improve upon / be more accurate with miles remaining, mpg, miles till empty etc readings on the dashboard and trip computer.

When I do change the entry to the correct '60L' I get the u2101:00-2F Control module configuration incompatible DTC on the IPC (but not BCMii), I do not have a 'initialise / relearn from central configuration' option for BCMii or IPC modules, only for PCM - If I clear this DTC it returns after the next drive cycle

Any direction / thoughts would be useful, thanks - Can provide screenshots etc if needed. Using Forscan with a VLinker FS, Same results if I read and make this change with Focccus

Interesting - I've noticed some discrepancies on my central config as well specifically pertaining to tyre sizes/radius. My speedo is out by at least 10% (30mph = 27mph, 50mph=45mph, 80mph = 72mph) and thought I could correct this by adjusting the sizes but no bueno.

I guess in your case it might be possible that Ford have re-used a code and Forscan is showing the new description instead of the old description - there were no PHEV Fords in 2012 afaik!

Your tyre size thing has to be changed in the pcm as well (rolling circumference) but I agree about the tank size code

Aah - cheers. Might have to give that another go once it's back from its service. Its super annoying that the speed limiter / cruise control figures on the dash don't match real life. If I set the limiter to 50 I've got people tailgating me in roadworks zones.
