2008 Ford Focus Ztec - engine issue

Hi,

My cars engine failure light has started to come on. This only happens if the car is stationary and has had the engine running for about 10+ minutes. When travelling in the car, this does not happen.

What could this be? It's like something is overheating.

    Apologies. It's the engine malfunction light in the centre of the dash.

    Thanks, it could mean anything, including the common cluster fault.

    Get the fault codes read ASAP

    I'm getting the codes read tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

    I'll report back on what they find. Hopefully it's nothing too bad, otherwise it might be time to look for another car.

    Hi,

    Took my car to the garage this morning and the diagnostics came back with the PCM being at fault. Everything else was fine. I was told that a few things had been cleaned and that it shouldn't happen again, it it does (or if it worries you) bring it back in and we'll get an auto-spark to look at it.

    Doesn't fill me with much confidence, but hey-ho...
