Focus MK4 media screen issue

Featured Replies

Just after some help and advice please.

My mk4 focus had a failed update on December 1st possibly due to the low power mode issue it had.

The screen went blank and when it came back on It had lost all the bottom row icons, so no temp controls, heated screens, AC, heated seat controls, heated steering wheel.

This leaves me without any control over anything to do with climate.

I have finally had it into sandicliffe over the last couple of days and they have fixed the low power issue with a new battery and have told me that they can't do anything about the media screen until the tech team push a new update out OTA.

What they actually mean is they have no idea how to fix it and hope you will just go away and not come back.

You have 2022 model and you are entitled to have all of it work. Contact the Ford customer relations department and tell them that your dealer is fobbing you off and you want the issue resolved quickly.

Here are the details: https://www.ford.co.uk/help/general/contact-us

I had this exact same issue late in November on my 22 plate Focus ST Line. Ford dealer diagnosed it as requiring a new APIM module which was fitted just before Christmas and resolved the problem. I've since found out that it was caused by the failed update.

I'd had the heating seat and heated steering wheel on when the issue started so I couldn't turn them off. Got a bit too warm at times!

To resolve the media screen issue on your MK4 Focus, start by restarting the car to clear glitches. Check for and install any available software updates, ensuring the car battery is in good condition. Consider performing a master reset from the setting menu. If the issue persist, it's recommended to visit a Ford service center for professional diagnosis.

Yeah, as above, load the updates again, leaving enough journey time for them to fully complete
