New to FORScan, should I be expecting this many DTC's?

Featured Replies

Hi I've recently picked what I thought was a really well looked after mk1 ST170 but after having the check engine light throw up I did some research and got myself an elm obd scanner to use with FORScan. I did a scan and its come back with loads of DTC's but the car it seemed to me was absolutely fine and driving like dream (I'm quite new to anything other than handing my keys over my local garage to fix any problems that surface).

Is having this amount of DTC's normal? and if so how do I determine what work needs to be done and what is probably nothing to worry about as I'd like to have a crack at tackling these myself

Any help for a newbie would be massively appreciated.

I'd try clearing them all and see if they come back

For a car that's not been plugged in to diagnostics for a long time I'd ignore them all, clear the DTC's, drive it around for a couple of days then read again.

Codes don't clear themselves so if the car has had a low battery at any point it will log codes in most modules.

I’m a little confused, your profile says 2004 ST 170 but the screenshot says 2002 Zetec 1.8 at the top.

not up on Forscan , what is demo mode?

It means that it is not connected to the car, and that screen shot is an example of what you could get if you actually connected it via something like the vLinker FS lead.

So the OP has not taken FORScan out of 'Demo Mode'

As @RL123 has just pointed out, your running FORScan in 'Demo Mode' what you're looking at is not real data about your car.
