Sync 3 Update problems

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I'm trying to update my current Sync 3 from 3.2 to 3.4. I've downloaded the update and tried to extract it using the native windows 10 extractor and it says its invalid. I then tried using WINRAR, and it says the download is corrupt but I used the repair tool which seems to have worked to the best of my knowledge...

I have the three main files on the root of my USB:
SyncMyRide folder (containing 9 .tar.gz files)
autoinstall.lst
DONTINDX.SA

Presumably this extraction has now worked, so I have plugged a correctly formatted 32gb USB into my car, only to get the following error code: PKG_ERR03.

Does anyone know if I'm doing anything wrong?!
Thanks!

[EDIT]
I've downloaded the file multiple times with the same corrupt message each time.

The update is:
3.4.23188

Not sure if others have had similar problems.

Try re-downloading the file from Ford.

The native Windows explorer should be able to open it no problem, it sounds like it's a corrupt download.

Hi Alex,

I Should've mentioned I've downloaded it multiple times, each time I'm unable to open it with windows explorer. Perhaps a problem with the Ford server files? so frustrating!

I was accessing it via the Ford.co.uk/support, logged in and entered by VIN.

I have just downloaded the one you've attached and it took 50 seconds as opposed to 8 minutes and half the file size!
It's also extracted the zip perfectly so fingers crossed it works!

Thanks Alex! I'll try it tonight.

It's the latest version of Sync, but it doesn't include the latest voice file. You are making quite the jump from 3.2. It might offer you another after, or you might need to install it manually. If you don't have any trouble with, or don't use the voice controls it's probably not worth worrying about though.

Yeah I don't use the voice controls so hopefully this works!

For reference, this is the difference of the two downloads as far as I can tell..
On the left is the corrupt ZIP I downloaded from Ford, on the right the ZIP you attached above. Not sure what I'm looking at but thought it was interesting...

Difference in SYNC3 Files.jpg

The other files that it's trying to give you are the latest radio logos, gracenotes and voice file.

It looks like the broken file is the main OS update. At 30MB, that's way too small. You can see it's nearly 900MB on the link I gave you.

It may even be possible to just use your original update, but replace the file NU5T-14G381-AD from the one I sent you.

Ah yes I never spotted that! I'll replace with yours and hopefully that will work! I'll keep you posted 😃

Ford update files are usually a muddle of non working rubbish - the difference in the sets of files I guess is the ford one would have given you fully updated maps, had it had enough space to load, hence nearly 891 meg vs 31 meg for one of the files

this guys forum is alive, I glanced the other day and thought his last update was a bit newer - has some useful info and ideas -  he used to post here and was the first offering big updates before ford miss-understood how to break it properly as you have found

of course if reformatting - I'd be wanting the voltage supported or it'll end in tears
