Remot key chip

Featured Replies

Hello all I have a question do all ford 3 button flip key remotes use the same blank chip in the them or are they different? 2009 era

Thanks 👍

I assume your are referring to the Transponder Chip.

Every key has a unique identification number, they are not blank. The id can not be changed. It is the car that gets programmed to recognise the id of the key. There are as @Jimpster has said above two different types of transponder chip.

On UK Ford vehicles before 2013 there are two possible ways to programme the car to accept a new key, but one method may require that you already have two working keyfobs (which most people don't have) the other method is to use the licensed version of FORScan.
