Vibration at 70mph

Featured Replies

I have a 2015 focus 1.0l ecoboost Zetec S and have noticed at around 70mph the whole car vibrates, has the usual things checked, balancing of wheels, new tyres all round, 4 wheel tracking adjusted, but no different. Car suffers from loud road noise too

any ideas on

1: vibration at around 70mph

2: cure the load road noise

thanks

1, have you ensured it's not the road itself (either by trying 70 on a different stretch of road or by trying with another car)

2, have you ensured your shocks aren't going bad?

Excessive road noise is standard for the Focus.  I've had Mk2, Mk3 and Mk4 and they've all been much louder on the road than German equivalents.  Ford just don't fit as much sound deadening as other manufacturers.  The only real cure is to fit your own sound deadening, particularly around the boot area.

Vibration is generally caused by a balance issue in the driveline.  If you're certain the wheels have been balanced correctly and none of them are bent then check the hubs and brake discs for run out next.
