1.0 Ecoboost engine specialist north london

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a garage that can fit a used 1.0 ecoboost engine near north london, Wood green / Haringey? I purchased an engine off a manual and need it fitted to my auto Ford focus.

Thanks,

The 1.0 engine from a manual is different to the 1.0 engine used in an automatic.

So can it be replaced? I thought you could replace the engine it as only the gearbox is different and my existing flexplate can be attached. The engine codes are supposed to be compatible as they are both M1DA.

The Auto has an additional balancer shaft inside the engine to smooth out the 3 pot. The manual uses a counterweighted flywheel.

You need to replace an Auto engine with another Auto engine.

It isn't the same inside.  Automatics have an additional balance shaft next to the oil pump.  That means they need a longer oil pump belt with a tensioner fitted to keep the belt tight.

Manuals just use a short belt around the oil pump sprocket and crank sprocket, no tensioner needed.

I wonder how bad the engine vibrations would be without the balance shaft.  Someone must have fitted a manual engine to an auto by now surely... 🤔

I wouldn't recommend trying it though, as it'll cause more wear on both the engine and gearbox.

Ok thanks guys, very helpful. I will cancel my order and order the correct engine.

So are there any good garages around north london that can fit the used engine I will buy?
