Occasional total battery drain Focus Mk3 1.0

Featured Replies

2013 Ford Focus 1.0 Mk3 which I’ve owned from new.  Never had any previous faults.  Go to start car one morning, battery totally dead (4.5 volts).  I’m certain that nothing was left switched on, battery terminals clean and tight etc.  Jump started car, measuring 14.5 volts, no warning lights.  Conclude battery faulty so bought new one.  About 2 months later same thing happened, one morning battery completely dead.  This time, once car was jump started and taken for ten mile run, I plugged in OBD tester (cheap EBay one)  which showed “no error code detected”.  Disconnected + terminal and placed meter between terminal clamp and battery post, measures 1.25 milliamps with nothing switched on.

One of the modules staying awake randomly.  Bluetooth module is the most common but could be others.

Difficult to diagnose something that happens so infrequently unfortunately.
