My car: Ford Focus MK3 Ecoboost 1L

I bought this Android head unit to replace the stock one. I used it for less than a day and decided it's not worth the money due to audio cutting out and some other issues.

I got this unit setup with the 'protocol bus' so my steering wheel controls would work, and it worked fine.

I've removed the aftermarket unit and reinstalled the previous 4.2" monochrome Sync unit but now, none of the multimedia   steering wheel controls work (or the voice button).

The DPAD 'OK' buttons on the left and right of the wheel interact with the cluster display as usual.

Things I've tried:

Use the aftermarket radio to see if theres some sort of setting to change, but I cannot seem to find one (other than to remove the canbus programming, but I assume that for the unit itself, not the car)
To note: when putting the aftermarket unit back in, the multimedia   steering wheel controls     did not work.

Disconnecting the battery - left it for a good 30 odd minutes, it reset MPG and the clock and probably some other things, but again, no luck.

Any help or advice would be highly appreciated.
