Fiesta 2006

Featured Replies

Hi all i have posted this before but does anyone have experience with putting the RPM up on a MK6 fiesta. The car runs smooth starts from cold but when I put the clutch and break in to slow down the Rpms go below 500 and the car cuts out.

I don’t think there is a cable that I can put the rpms up so not sure how to do it.

any help please.

It's not really possible on modern engines.  The RPM is set electronically by the ECU.  It would effectively need a remap to increase the idle RPM.

Have you done a throttle body relearn since the repair?

Hi Tom,

I believe the garage did it has been in twice, maybe I should look at getting the remapping done to get the idle rpms up a touch.

I'd try it again tbh, wouldn't trust a garage to have got it right.  The procedure has been posted on here a few times recently so should be able to find that in the search.

There must be a fault to keep dropping the RPM that low, it wouldn't have left the factory that way.  Remaps are so expensive they're generally done for more power or better economy, not worth the cost just to increase the idle.

Is it not possible to adjust idle speed using FORScan ? 🤔

It's not something I've ever looked to do.

I wonder if the switch on the clutch pedal could be faulty...?  When pressing in the clutch when in neutral, the ecu is supposed to increase the revs to prevent stalling in these circumstances. (this is the policy with the Mk3 Mondeo, which is of a similar vintage)

I don't think so.  Forscan can't make any PCM changes as far as I'm aware.

Hi All, Just an update. I took the throttle body out and there was some oil in there and a build up or crap, so I’ve cleaned that out and it seem’s to be running fine now with no cut outs so I’m hoping it stays like that. Only time will tell.
Thank you all for your help and input, hopefully I won’t need any more help soon.

this video also helped me.
