Mk4 ford fiesta door not unlocking reliably

I have a 1997 ford fiesta, with a manual door key. Recently the drivers side door is not unlocking reliably and sometimes I have to unlock the car through the passenger side. I tried the spare key and the same thing kept happening so I don't think the key is worn. 

What can I try?

    The key barrel may have worn.  You can buy barrel rebuild kits for this purpose.

    Though I would suggest removing the door card first to check the lock mechanism is working correctly.

    I have that issue on my old MK4,on my case its a broke small spring, since the car have central locking i have some extra steps, i made a tutorial, its on Portuguese language, but you can check th images so you can have an ideia.
