They're a little fiddly to get at.. Patience is the Key & they should be OK?

Here are a couple of diagrams, Hope they're helpful 👍

Hey there... i'm getting ready to do them on my S-max...

same sort of S**T job...:)

can help but wonder...why are you showing only 3 plugs? Did the one left snap?

Was it not too cold for such a job? I think i'm going to wait for a couple of months for the weater to warm up... i work outside..unfortunately no heated garage: )

Also, how did you manage to make a watertight seal on the cowl panels?

Hi ,monkey×wrench it is a s**t job to do lol  and yes all 4 come out i lost one lol but the left one was tight to come out and I tested all 4 and i found  2 of them was  not working at all .when I put the cowling back on I just made sure it was clean before I fitted it back on

Did you take your time, spraying penetrating fluid, waiting, wiggle in out, spray, repeat...

or did you just go for it? :) Did you warm up the engine before hand? Or just cold engine in cold weather? :)

That's what I would normal do, like injectors .so I just warmed up the engine a bit and really slowly turning them, its just lucky it don't get wet down the back of the engine, so no rust on the threads and it was cold out lol plus my wife needed her car back that day 😀 I'm not sure what the weather has to do with it, as glow plugs can be changed any time of year, as they are used very little in the summer, so will only notice a problem in the cold weather.

Yes you can change glow plugs any time of the year, if you have a heated garage :)

I'm thinking, If the engine is cold, it's harder to get them out, as the alu head has a tighter grip around the glow plug.....if you warm up the engine, it cools down much faster in the winter than in the summer... :) That's my reasoning ... me being a SLOW-mo...by the time take out the EGR & cooler etc... the engine will be cold again :)

So maybe i have a better chance when it gets warm.

Maybe i'm just overthinking and complicating, but i really don't want to snap the damn thing.

Your right about if its colder it will grip tighter on the head I just needed to get it done cos it is the family car. Have you checked where they are cos the guy on here sent me a diagram of a s max and it is in the front and ford  galaxy 2009 2.0 are at the back of the engine.

yes...unfortunately, there at the back. I have the same 2.0 TDCI engine. It's the 1.8 and the 2.2 that have them in the front...: )
