Aliexpress headlights Ford Focus MK4

Featured Replies

Sooooo.

My friend bought a Ford Focus MK4 Titanium because i was so impressed with my Ford Focus ST-Line MK4.

My car came stock with halogen headlights and i bought a used OEM led headlights from ebay and it fitted and worked perfectly, except for the light output i guess, but much better than the halogen one.

Well, my friend did the excact same thing, but he did not buy a OEM headlights, but headlights from Aliexpress. Here is the link: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004332835232.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.553a2e4bfrym3a&undefined=undefined&pdp_npi=4%40dis!ISK!112728!89055!!!825.00!651.75!%402103146f17058590891077523e9fe9!12000028791712951!sea!IS!174141897!#nav-review

He got them and they fitted and it said there would not be any coding which was true and the light output is great. But, here is why i come in here and write this long, stupid topic.

We are arguing about the quality of the headlight. My take on it is, that with time, there will be a fire hazard because it is not a OEM one and i've heard some stories about fire starting from the plugs on the headlights but he says it does not matter since he checks it everyday, which tells me he's nervous about them.

Am i in the wrong, or so to say, am i over exaggerating this? I just don't want my friends car to burn because of these headlights.

Follow up question, has anybody ordered full on headlamps from aliexpress without problems.

Your doubts about it are well founded though id be more concerned about random odd behaviour of the lights rather than fires as non ford oe lights are notorious for wiring issues usually resulting in intermittent open circuit codes, that being said some AliExpress things are actually genuine ford (built in the same factory) but don't have the ford branding on it.

Ok i see. Let's say if he get some random odd behaviour of the lights and will get these codes. Will he be able to switch back to the halogen one without troubles?

I freaked him out a bit with this post which was not my intention, so far from it actually. I just wanted to make sure he and his car are safe 🙂

Should be fine
