SOS light constant flashing - 2021 Mk 4 Focus

Featured Replies

Hi all!

My partner bought herself a 2021 Focus ST X line this weekend. She absolutely loves the car, however one little bug bare she's noticed this evening is the SOS button on the overhead console flashes red constantly (approx once per second)

Reading the manual, I understand it's operation, however when pressing the actual button under the flap, nothing happens...

It's pretty distracting when driving in the dark, so I was just wondering if this is normal?

Thanks for confirming Alex! Trip to the dealers then I think

Absolutely Ryan. The car is new as far as you are concerned and the dealer you bought the car of must fix any faults that occur within a 3 month period from purchase.

Yeh, been on the phone to the dealer we bought from this morning and they've been very understanding. They've first recommended to ensure the 'Ford Pass' app is all set up, but failing that it looks like the car is actually just under manufacturers warranty anyway being first registered in Feb '21, so it'll get sorted one way or another 🙂

If flashing is a distraction, in meantime till fixed, a strip of black insulating tape will cure...

Perhaps it's trying to send a message   . . . _ _ _ . . . ? 😉

A message in a bottle?

Booked into Ford on the 21st Feb. 10 days before the Ford warranty runs out luckily!

Realised aswell that the Ford Pass app isn't having any of it either. No 'activate' prompt appears on the car when you try to connect the app to the car. Almost as if the car doesn't want to connect to any of Fords systems...

That and the fact the SOS button does nothing when pressed leads me to thinking the cars modem isn't very happy. One for the techs at Ford to diagnose and fix though hopefully!
