Spigot/pipe attachment

Featured Replies

2020 Focus 4 1.5 Ecoblue.

Looks like something that a pipe would attach to. Its on the R/H side of the engine (the air filter side) as you look at it from the front of the car.

With the engine running, if I listen to it through a tube I can't hear a hissing sound, and if I stick my finger over it I can't feel anything.

So unless I'm missing something, it doesn't do anything

But - does it have a purpose, and should a pipe be attached to it?

Thanks - Richard

It's a drain pipe from the 'valley' on top of the cam cover, between the camshafts, around the injectors.

I think it's mainly there to reduce the fire risk from diesel pooling on top of the engine if there's a leak in that area.  Though it also allows water to drain after over-zealous jet-washing or puddle jumping.

Thanks Tom - Having found it, my first thought was there's summat missing, a bit like the drainage channel under the windscreen on the driver's side! Should be a pipe going somewhere though I would have thought.
