Replacement Cat in 2.5 years (30k miles)?

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a 2017 Ford Eco Boost which had the sensors and new cat fitted mid 2021, two months after which the engine went and was replaced under warranty.  I've now had the code P0420 Catalytic efficiency Bank one come up again.  I'm concerned that this should happen so soon after having the cats replaced and that there may be an underlying fault? Has anyone else had this happen?

I'm having an emission test carried out at the end of the day.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Could it be the o2 sensor

You haven't said what caused the engine to "go" but is it possible it dumped a load of cr@p into the new cat?
