Sync 2 to 3 upgrade issues

Featured Replies

Hello

I bought a sync 3 Apim and screen off ebay for my 2015 focus, i removed the sync 2 replacing it with the 3 quite easily the only problem i am having is when i goto play music off the USB drive or use the Phone via bluetooth the sound is really quiet even on the max volume of 30, cant be a speaker issue as the radio itself is quite loud, i have put the sync 2 back in for now but if anyone on here has got any ideas would love to read em

I have not yet replaced the USB hub as its currently on its way from china however i cannot see how this would make a difference, also i had the unit programmed for the specs of my car from the ebay seller

am hoping its something as simple as an update required if not then im really stuck

TIA

RM

Hi, i have a feeling we spoke on the facebook thread about this, there is a chance that they didn't actually program the asbuilt data to the module either correctly or at all (despite saying so) and so the unit is not fully working correctly, have you got access to forscan and a compatible USB interface? i have a feeling when you read the codes you will find several coming from APIM.

Hi Benjamin, yes you are correct, i asked the seller he assures me its been programmed correctly i am just seeking other possible issues, thanks for the reply

id still recommend reading the DTCs off the car as this is still sounding like a compatibility issue

I have fitted mine to my car without any issues (bar a GPS antenna connector that was damaged in shipping and has a replacement coming) was your original radio a sony as they have different inbuilt speaker amplifiers compared to standard ford radios?

No mine didnt have a headunit was controlled by the sync 2 dashboard, all good and working now was a faulty APIM unit which was quickly replaced by the seller, much happier with the 3 can do alot more with it and looks more modern 🙂
