Focus 1.0 oil change (Which one) for mk3

Featured Replies

Good day.

Which oil is best for 1.0 focus mk3?

only 5-20 magnatec?

any others meeting fird requirement WSS-M2C948-B?

petronas 5000 fr 5w-20 also meets the spec and is significantly cheaper, been using it in my sister's focus for a few years now and had no problems

There seem to be many brands meeting this requirement Mannol,Mobil,Motul,Liqui Moly, Elf,Total, Shell, Texaco etcetera, but do they really protect focus mk3 1.0 engine? especially the timing belt (wetbelt)?

Castrol Magnatec Professional 5W20 Engine Ecoboost Oil FULL 5 Litres £31.98 (free delivery)

if they all meet the spec then that means they should all have the correct additive package and therefore in theory should all be just as good as eachother

They dont seem to meet all requirements.

(Wondering if there is a 0-30 oil for this model meeting the requirements).

When you say significantly cheaper, by how much?

No, because the specification for the engine calls for the use of 5W-20 any other grade would not be what Ford had specified.

This might help.

https://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-2125-ford-wss-m2c948-b-engine-oil.aspx   I have a feeling Opie is a sponsor on this forum.  They sponsor a lot of car forums.

I personally use Millers oils in cars and have been for 30 odd years, from my Mothers AX diesel, my Metro, dads Impreza and our current cars.

So it seems that Opie is quite a bit more expensive than buying from Arnold Clark

Opie price for Magnatec £35.95 4 Litres

Arnold Clark price for Magnatec £31.98 5 Litres
