Sync display issue - fixing by Trial and error?

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, so couple months ago the middle LCD Sync display of my 2022 Focus stopped working. The Sync itself seems to be working fine, but display itself is black. I went to the official Ford service and they said they will need to order a new display. So a month later, they replace a new display and tell me that another part is not working, so they ordered that again. They did not admit it, but I have a feeling there was nothing wrong with the display to begin with (but I could be wrong).

Now several weeks later I return again, they attempt to replace that other part, and they tell me that it appears it was not this part either, so they have to order yet another part.

Now I don't know much about mechanics, but to me this sounds quite incompetent. Could anyone confirm, is it really the case that there is no way to troubleshoot the non-working display and find out the actual culprit, as opposed to ordering and trying each part one by one?

Sadly this is the way main dealerships work.  They have to follow a 'pathway' set out by Ford.  Starting with the most likely cause and working through...at cost to the customer of course.

But this implies that there is no way to troubleshoot the wrong part in a more efficient way, or at least they don't have the knowledge or equipment for that. I've been to dozens of dealerships for dozens of issues over the years but never experienced something like this actually.
