MK2.5 1.8 petrol custom exhaust

Spoken to my local custom exhaust specialist Longlife to do a backbox back exhaust with low noise.

They've stated there is no backbox on my car but 2 centre boxes.

They said they can delete the centre res (1st centre box) which will give it a low note and add exhaust tip of my choice.

Anyone done this? Whats pros/cons of deleting the centre res? Does this directly affect performance and noise?
