Hi just about to buy a 71 plate SLine echosport. Full service history ect however  I am being told about echo boom should be worried

Yes, if it's a 1 liter or 1.5 engine, they have a 'wet belt' system, which is prone to failure even when correctly maintained.  What engine is your prospective car?

Just had a thought did the engine go chain driven from 20/21 and mines 71 plate 

A '71 plate Fiesta may have the later chain driven 1.0 engine.  But as far as I'm aware the Ecosport never got the chain engine as it was so close to production ending.

If you have an engine bay picture we can confirm which it has.

Only thing I found was service Manuel from ford cars built mid 2020

Yes that's a wet belt engine.
