Battery related question

Featured Replies

Hi Guy's. Just recently bought a 17 plate MS-RT. The van seems to be taking some time to start and I think it may be down to the battery. The current battery is a Bosch S5 A11. Was talking to a few mechanics in a ford dealership and they said always go with a ford battery as they are best but from what I have read the ford batteries are crap ? Anyone able to offer any advise on this ? Also , the van is only running one battery currently but see space for two. Would there be any real benefit in upgrading to two batteries or is this overkill ?

Thanks in advance.

Ford don't make batteries. For the last few years they have been getting them made by Varta. If Ford get a better deal from someone else next month then they will change supplier.

Many of us on the forum use Yuasa as our first choice.

You can't simply just add a second battery to your transit unless it has the additional factory fitted wiring and charge control.

Make sure the replacement is of the same, or better capacity than the original, not the one that is fitted

I read that a few times, and thought I'd never heard of that brand - till I checked my own car, I guess I'm just getting old 😂
