S-Max PCM Update

Featured Replies

I’ve got a 2010 S-Max 2.2 TDCi; I’ve heard that a PCM update can improve fuel economy.

My questions are:

- does it work/is it worth doing?

- how do I go about doing it?

Thanks in advance!

Depends how far behind current level you are and what the update improves. Some PCMs yes, some no

You could book into Ford, it takes about 20 minutes to update PCM, so expect an hour's labour.

If you purchase the V-Linker or OBDLink-EX cable (NOT a cheap Chinese ELM327), download the paid version of FORScan, not the public version, (you will need a paid license) and read the MFU user guide TO THE LETTER on the FORScan Forums, you can do it yourself. PCM update is quite safe, if you follow the guide
