2010 zetec S electric seat issue

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Been banging my head against a wall for a week and hoping this will be an easy answer for many of you here.

So I have taken leather seats from a 2011 mk2.5 zetec 1.6 and placed them in a 2010 MK2.5 zetec s 1.8..

Wiring harness under seat and fuse boxes look identical...

But I have no power to adjust drivers seat..

Took seat back out and placed in old motor to adjust and make sure I didn't damage seat moving it...

So my question is ..

What am I missing?

Fully electric?

Fully electric?

Drivers seat has two switches for adjustment..

Non heated..

Hope that helps

Then you probably don't have the wiring if your car was fully manual

Confused by it as seller of seats is adamant they compatible with facelift focus 2008 to 2011..

The harness under seat appears to be same as new motor..

Would that suggest maybe just a missing fuse or relay not provided as not needed with manual seat?

They will physically fit any Mk2.5 Focus, but that doesn't mean the wiring is there.  Is every wire matching up in the seat plug?

Fuse 101 under the glovebox should be for electric seat adjustment.

Thanks for this , I'll check after work

Swapped out fuse 101 from other focus but no joy...

Looks like I'll have to take it to a garage and spend money I ain't got.

Was sure that they would be plug n play...

2011 focus had cloth seats and I bought the leather seats for her, no issue at all plug n play..

Hopefully garage won't charge to much.

You can swap the leather covers and foams over to the manual seats

Confused, the Zetec S from 2010 didn't have electric seats did it?

Hi All , still not found any solution to this..

Garage wouldn't touch it and recommend auto sparky.

If anyone can help I'm in your debt..

Here's a pic the garage took with electric seat connector and 2011 focus wiring harness

The wires from the electric seat...

Do I have an option to wire up a 12v to the orange and black wire?

Would that power both switches? Forward/back seat up n down and back of seat forward and back?

At this point I'm just looking to move the seat so I can secure bolts and get it into my driving position then it can stay there

Looks like you’ve got a fit few circuits missing from the cabin harness compared to what the seat needs - perhaps 3 mini connectors coming out of the cabin harness but 6 circuits/plugs in the seat multi plug. Would need to dig into the wiring schematics more to determine what each one is and how you’d need to supply it.

Very quick check of the wiring diagram suggests you need power to the black & orange/yellow connections of the seat to enable seat movement functions.

Orange/yellow being positive and black negative.

Appreciate your efforts troy45...

So just a 12 v supply to the black and orange/yellow will allow seat to function?

All functions or just forward/back?

All the seat adjust functions are fed from same supply. Example below for high spec seat
