Focus Automatic wet belts

Featured Replies

Have Fords yet rectified the Wet Belt problems on Ford Focus Automatic ecotech engines I am considering a new Focus Automatic

The original 1.0 EcoBoost automatic issue was caused by a balance shaft.  (Or rather the additional belt tensioner needed)

That's no longer needed with the new engine & gearbox, so that issue has been resolved.

However, the new engine does still use a small wetbelt for the oil pump.  We are seeing conflicting information on the reliability of the oil pump belt in the new engine.

Honestly, if you've got the means to buy new, I think I'd be avoiding a 1.0 auto Focus.

Yep, I think I'd look seriously at, for instance, the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic. (In fact, come to think of it, I already have!😀)
