Speedometer

Featured Replies

So this happened last year and after car was serviced and went through nct all was good. I'm causally driving home from work, a very short drive, when I get up to speed suddenly the speedometer drops, the milage counter goes blank and the check engine light comes out with a brake warning light. There is a feeling of loss of power and a little stutter when I slow down and take off again. It's a 2005 focus with about 274,000 miles on it. Is it just giving up or is there a fault somewhere else that wasn't caught before. I'm a new driver so I'm still getting to learn a lot of the technical issues. Unsure if the rattle is the steering rack or a belt but again this was all looked at only 2 months ago before my nct

Very probably you have an ABS wheel sensor failing. The usual one is the front O/S but it could be any, you need to use FORScan and see what DTC has been logged. ABS wheel sensors are easy to replace and cost less than £30
