Mk2 - Throttle Body - Dirty / Covered in Carbon

Featured Replies

So removed my throttle body today and to my horror the underside of the butterfly valve was absolutely caked in carbon.

Tried using throttle body cleaner to remove the build up but it was that bad I had to mechanically remove the worst of it (very gently with a blunt screwdriver to avoid scratching).

Have put it back on and reset the PCM adaptations with FORScan seems a bit better at picking up now.

Also shall test at cold start if wants to stall or not but seems like throttle response is improved since cleaning.

Now want to remove the PCV and have a look at that but seems more involved to access (shall raise a separate thread).

Cleaning the throttle body has seemed to help the issue on cold start with stalling so happy days.

Shall put this down as SOLVED now. (Need to update my other post as I've duplicated! - apologies).
