Brake Warning Light

Featured Replies

I have a 2016 Focus Estate. On opening the door the red brake warning light comes on. It stays on until either I take off the park brake or the car "turns off". It comes back on when the park brake is applied.  I'm told this is perfectly correct.  But I've had the car a while and don't remember seeing this light before.  Is this really normal (and just me that's faulty)?

Yes, normal

You just need to get yourself scanned Tim. Think you might have a memory code error 🤣

Oh dear. Maybe I'll just trade myself in.

So I stop, park brake on, engine off and sit there with a red warning light on the dash. It's so hard to believe I never noticed it before. And why a red light when it's all OK? I could understand a red light if I forgot to put the brake on.  Sigh.

Red: there is a serious, and potentially dangerous problem - stop driving as soon as it is safe to do so
