Good evening all,

Recently picked up a 2016 focus rs which i would assume has sync 3 retrofitted by a previous owner as its a May 2016 registered vehicle, however noticed on start up most of the times it pops up with ‘Navigation malfunction, navigation is not functioning properly, please visit your dealer for service’.

Seems as though sometimes it picks up location where the vehicle is sometimes it doesn’t.. however when it doesn't pick up vehicle gps location soon as you start moving it picks up the gps location.

Has anyone come across this fault previously and could give me some pointers as to what could fix it? I have tried doing a master reset via the settings.

I'd suspect a poor GPS aerial connection.

Is the connector fully clicked in the back ?

Could be a faulty GPS aerial amplifier unit.

I will strip out the display tomorrow to check connections,

Would the below do the trick as a replacement if the Ariel is faulty?

This might help, I followed this guy when I updated my ST from SYNC2 to SYNC3.
