Ford focus titanium 2010

Featured Replies

Hi new to the forum we have a ford focus titanium 2010 model nice car a few new issues for us our first keyless entry and push button start amongst others things but my question if anyone can help we went to get into the car the other day and it wouldn't start when looking at the dashboard it said steering wheel locked re-entry,panic didn't know what to do tried the key no luck in the end just pressed the button and waggled the steering wheel it eventually started what is this and what do we do if it happens again many thx

There is a separate, piggy back, RKE module (Remote keyless entry) on MK2.5 with passive entry and keyless start, it is on the rear 1/4 panels, somewhere, at the rear of the car, this also controls security through the GEM, including electric steering lock.

The module gets contaminated with water and fails, find the module and replace, it will be plug and play

Just a warning, the steering locked on our car during a low speed manoeuvre

Another possibility if the steering column lock isn’t releasing properly that may explain why the issue cleared after waggling the steering wheel.

Id expect the system has an interlock to check the steering lock is released before letting the car start
