Scratch on wing mirror glass

Featured Replies

Hi. I have small scratches on my wing mirror glass

Any advice on how to repair them?

The photo doesn't really show them very well but they are in the centre of the mirror

Are you sure ? That looks like a door mirror. Replace the glass is the only real option.

Thanks.

Is it quite easy to change the glass yourself or better to go to a garage? Thanks

The glass unclips quite easy, there is a small risk that the mirror you remove might crack but that doesn't often happen. Even if it does you would be binning it in any case. Then it's just a simple matter of disconnecting the two wires from the back of the heated mirror (if it is heated) and connecting the new mirror and clicking it back in to place.

Lots of YouTube videos. Fords are all very much the same.

Rule of thumb is, that if you can feel the scratch with your fingernail, no amount of polishing will remove it. Like UnoFix said, don't be afraid of removing it as it'll be going in the bin anyway as you'll be replacing it... (I've replaced my driver one before and I did break it on removal, but I've an excuse - I'm a klutz!!

Any recommendations on where to buy genuine Ford Puma parts from. I'll take a look and buy the new glass. Seen some sites online but I don't think some of the parts are genuine. Thanks

Contact the Ford on-line shop, or visit your local Ford dealers parts department for genuine parts.
