Help with part number for P0299 vacuum pump warning issue

Featured Replies

Hello,

Ford Focus 2016 Titanium - 78K mileage.

I'm a novice at doing anything on cars, but always like give things a go.  Any help would be great.

I get a ODB warning for the vacuum valve pump P0299 and found this video which shows how to easily save money and replace the valve only which I want to try (car went limp again).  He has a link to the valve to get off eBay, but says to check the model of the Vacuum Valve I have, would anyone know what this is?  I also see Amazon sell them for a tomorrow delivery in the UK which I could try.

Vacuum pump valve repair kit For Ford 1.0 & 1.5 Ecoboost CM5G2A451GA 1867424

Saw this one but does not say it will be compatible with a Focus

Also I get a really annoying noise under the steering wheel which seems to be the Temperature and Humidity sensor/fan, it looks easy to replace, would you know the part number for that?  I think it's this, £69 for this seems a lot but I need it

double check if you have a wet belt engine - seems a vac pump fault is often a precursor to a self destructing engine

there's a great video explains it all

Yeah it's a wet belt engine. 😔

I doubt if anyone on here will know the part number of your Pump.

If you can't see a part number on the Pump and a mirror or your phone camera might help you see any inaccessible parts of the Pump then the part is cheap enough to take a chance with. My gut feeling is that the part will be common to a lot of cars that are not listed.

I believe that you can also buy stand alone Valves that you fit externally but you would need to cut the hose and make sure that is will fit in the hose.

referring you back to my post 2

- the vac pump often fails because debris from the failing cam belt jams it up - fix the vac pump, drive on and blow up your engine !

Wet belt replacement booked in for Monday, they will replace the vacuum pump valve too.

NICE - they should remove the sump and clean the oil strainer as per the video - seems job can be done without bothering - but the extra effort is well worth while
