How to Fix Google Assistant, Doesn't BEEP

Featured Replies

When I talked to my Android 10 phone and said,'Hey Google',I use to get a satisfying 'beep' as conformation it was listening for my next command. That 'beep' has now disappeared. I have been through every setting on my phone to get it back - can't find it. Just wasted 2 hours of my life searching Google for an answer, seems a common enough problem but every solution doesn't work for me. (Far too many updates over time making published  'solutions' useless).

Have tried accessibility access, every option in Google App, nothing...

Anyone know how I can get it back?

Don't you only get a Beep when you swear at Google ? 🤣

Sorry don't know the answer 🤔

Seen that, my phone doesn't have 'tiles' (though my kitchen does?). Accessibility setting I have has nothing to do with Google assistant, even searching under the 'assistant' app settings...

Mine doesn't beep either. And won't do it unless I've got accessibility feature switched on. No idea what that means.

I have that exact same screen, makes no difference on my phone though, on or off...

Have you made sure your phone is not on silent, the media volume, notification volume and ringer volume are turned up etc?

Have you tried turning it off and on again? Despite the joke this does genuinely fix a lot of issues.

I don't use Assistant but if it is a separate App then find it, it may be in the System Apps, and delete the Cache and Data then give it time to reload the Data again and it may then work. Strictly speaking I think you should also restart your phone.

The other thing that you can try is to press the 3 dots and see if Google will let you roll the App back to the Factory Setting.

I often need to do either of the above to fix Apps, especially System ones.

With it being part of the OS and also an always online feature it will either not roll back or just keep updating.

From what I'm reading online, this is a change Google has made in an update and people can't find a way to get it back.

Any software that has as many updates as Google Android apps must be fundamentally floored....... (eg spillkicker !)

Yes it seems the issue began in January this year with a Google update. The Samsung phones seem to be mostly affected and there are pages of ideas on the Samsung forums of ways that users have got the chime back, but as is often the case with these issues, what worked for one person does not work for another.

My guess would be that it was not an intended change, more a glitch that has occurred with the latest software update. Perhaps future updates will sort it? If the Google and Ford Sync software engineers work together there's no telling just how messed up the next release will be 🤣

It would be so brilliant in future updates, they'd introduce a simple setting option, "confirmation tone on/off..." but what do I know 😂

I don't know if you use Garmin satnavs anywhere, but the rapid release of three (or is it four) versions of Garmin Express to try and get map updates to download successfully to PCs further indicates the level of (in)competence of software writers (and I won't event mention Fujitsu - it is time some PO/FU people went to prison !)

I will 😀 Good old honest, reliable, Fujitsu. Who could not love them ?

Garmin Express 'updated' on my laptop about 3 years ago, it really screwed everything up, and took me  day to find a source to download the 'old' version. Every time I open it now it insists on 'updating', which I let it, then use the 'cancel' function just before it actually does. Darn nuisance, but I'll never trust an update from them ever again...

That Digital ID consultation reminds me of the government promised public consultation in 2019 on EV introduction. The consultation was quietly swept under the carpet (tarmac?), and was announced in 2020 as a fait accomplit, that sale of new ICE cars would be banned in 10 years

Same issue. Only info I've found is that the feature was removed from "10" (though a few users using various phones with custom "Settings" have been able to restore the feature.

Looks like we are stuck. 😞
